IndiaFacts constructs no original estimates. Every value is already published by a primary institution, cited, and tiered by authority.
Source tiers
1
Constitutional & statutory bodies — RBI, CAG, Census/RGI, Supreme Court (NJDG), Election Commission.
2
Central ministries — MoSPI/NSO, NCRB, MoHFW, Ministry of Education, MoRTH, NITI Aayog.
3
Major independent surveys — NFHS (IIPS), ASER (Pratham).
4
State government statistical departments and budget documents.

Private & academic research — PRS, CMIE, universities.
Our rules
- No new estimates are constructed. Every value was already published by a primary source and links back to it.
- Where a verified figure is unavailable, the cell reads “Not available” — we never interpolate or invent.
- Each datapoint carries its source, reference year, and a confidence flag. A saffron dot marks figures pending a line-by-line re-check.
- Series breaks are annotated when source methodology changes; figures from different methodologies are not spliced.
- The chatbot answers only from this dataset. If a figure is not present, it says so rather than guessing.
